The highest situated church village in Austria

Obergurgl

A place with a penchant for quality. For ski vacationers, this is a winter sports destination with guaranteed snow – one that has had a ski club since 1911. On May 27, 1931, Auguste Piccard landed at the Gurgler Ferner after setting a new altitude record with his balloon. A monument in the village commemorates this event. In 1949, the first T-bar lift was built, followed by a chairlift in Gurgl in 1953.

Hikers can look forward to spectacular vantage points. Ambitious mountaineers will be met with an ample degree of challenge, as well as outstanding route destinations on high-altitude hikes and glacier crossings. Premium accommodation and exquisite cuisine are the cherry on top of your getaway in the high mountains.
