The panoramic road Timmelsjoch (a toll road) has its highest point at 2,474 m. Motorcyclists, car drivers and endurance cyclists start their ascent at the Top Mountain Crosspoint near Hochgurgl and head towards South Tyrol. At the foot of the Timmelsjoch, the interactive ‘Top Mountain Motorcycle Experience’ beckons. On the way down there are 30 scenic bends and the 6 information stations of the “Timmelsjoch Experience”. The High Alpine Road is open to toll road traffic from around May to October. The toll is included in the Summer Card.
Hiking buses & hut taxis
Between mid-June and mid-September the Timmelsbus runs four times a day from Obergurgl in the Ötztal to St. Leonhard in the Passeier Valley (South Tyrol/Italy). This bus line takes you to many excursion and hiking destinations. A popular stop is at the Smugglers' Monument or the circular hike to Lake Kummersee. Other hiking buses and hut taxis in the valley will chauffeur you to new destinations away from the Gurgl hiking area.
Public buses in Ötztal
The Ötztaler buses go to numerous stations, which are an ideal starting point for excursions. The Imst bus connects the Ötztal train station, Sölden, Obergurgl and the Timmelsjoch every day.
