Easy & intermediate Nordic sunshine trails
No matter how experienced you are and how many hours you want to go cross-country skiing in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl: the very rhythmic movement at an altitude of around 2000 meters definitely has a positive effect on your health and fitness. By the way, not only tourism specialists say so but also medical research experts. Three trails embedded in the terrain are just perfect for a personal study - promising also a lot of enjoyment:
The 2 km long Obergurgl practicing trail is ideal for beginners. You can access the Nordic track below the church (Schalfkoglweg). The lap runs at the bottom of the valley along the brook .
Extensive cross-country skiing pleasures await you on the 7 km long Pill-Angern-Poschach high-altitude trail leading through beautiful natural landscape. From the car park at Hochgurgl mountain gondola (base station) the trail initially travels straight on the level valley bottom, followed by a slight to intermediate climb that leads skaters and classic cross-country skiers across Issewiesen meadows to the hamlets of Königsrain and Alt-Poschach. Return on the right side along Gurgler Ache mountain brook, past Hotel Jagdhof and back to the car park.
The rather easy, 2 km long Hochgurgl practicing trail close to the base station of Hochgurgl II mountain gondola enchants beginners and experts alike thanks to its flat route above the tree line in the direction of Königstal. Both cross-country skiers and winter hikers peacefully enjoy the stunning Alpine scenery. For evening workout a part of the trail is also illuminated. The trail's access point is located above Hochgurgl's chapel on the ski run.
Short connecting trails between the main tracks on the valley floor are only groomed in classic style and lead along winter hiking trails.
