Skiing Tyrol
Snow galore
Do you love the mountains, powder snow and quaint hut atmosphere? Then you have come to the right place for superb skiing in Tirol! Gurgl, the Diamond of the Alps, in Upper Ötztal is one of the most prestigious ski areas in the whole country. Top quality skiing is not just an empty phrase here, but is lived every day on the wide open slopes in the winter months.
Snow? For sure!
In Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, or simply Gurgl, ski beginners and professionals alike get together on snow-capped peaks and 112 kilometers of slopes. 25 mountain lifts are spread over one of the most snow-sure ski areas in the Alps. And even up to 3080 meter high Wurmkogl summit. From there you can tackle one of the most difficult runs in the entire ski area: mogul slopes (if you dare) and steep descents take you downhill again – even directly to your hotel because most of the top-notch accommodations are located right on the slopes.
But first you should enjoy picture-book views of the snow-covered Alps, for example from the viewing platform at the Top Mountain Star panorama bar or from the deckchairs at Hohe Mut Alm. You cannot only enjoy the fabulous view from both of these places, but also first-class Tirolean cuisine. Indulge in outstanding panoramic vistas and enjoy your meal!
A ski area for every type of skier
Whether you want to work on exact turns on the wide and safe ski slopes, you dare to conquer the waves, steep turns and jumps of the "Funmountain Obergurgl" with your children or you prefer to be out in open skiing terrain and therefore in knee-deep powder snow, the Gurgl ski area has the right offer for every type of skier.
A highlight for all early risers
You can literally kiss the ski area awake and hit the slopes exclusively, accompanied by a certified ski guide, on Festkogl and Hohe Mut downhill runs - even before the ski area starts its daily operation. Afterwards you look forward to a delicious breakfast served at Hohe Mut Alm. If you still can't get enough of winter sports fun, you put on your skis or snowboard again at a late hour as night skiing is scheduled in Gurgl twice a week - skiing in Tirol from early in the morning until late at night!
So much more than just skiing
All those looking for a change from skiing are recommended to go on a snowshoe hike through the centuries-old stone pine forest or speed down on the three kilometer long toboggan run in Hochgurgl. The Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum in Hochgurgl is also an interesting destination in bad weather. The eye-catching museum from an architectural point of view, not only shows unique exhibits but is also considered Europe's highest motorbike museum.
It’s not surprising that Tirol attracts skiing, snowshoeing and tobogganing aficionados from all over the world every year in winter: Gurgl in Tirol’s Ötztal valley offers unique slopes plus superb snow conditions in a breathtaking setting. But also so much more!
